Designed for Carl Hansen & Son as a tribute to Hans Wegner in 2013, Tadao Ando’s Dream Chair captures the harmonious minimalist expressions of Wegner’s works with ease and grace.
The Dream Chair is both sculptural and comfortable, the result of innovation in curvature achieved by collaboration between Ando and Carl Hansen & Son’s craftsmen to push the limits of techniques in molding three-dimensional plywood. The intentional interplay with light, like his breathtaking church in Osaka, makes the Dream Chair distinctly characteristic of Ando’s work.
